Silver Spring Books, among the last of bookstores in Downtown Silver Spring after Borders closed in 2011, has closed. Their final day of business was yesterday.

Middle school remodeling project underway
Construction has begun on a remodeling project for the Silver Spring International Middle School at 313 Wayne Ave.
