One of Silver Spring’s major downtown office tenants will remain in its Georgia Avenue location despite being purchased earlier this year. Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. has renewed and extended its long-term lease at Washington Property Company’s Silver Spring Plaza building, according to an announcement by WPC.

Mandalay Plans Move to Georgia Avenue in D.C.
Mandalay Restaurant and Café will move from its Bonifant Street location to Georgia Avenue in Washington, D.C., according to an announcement on the outlet’s Facebook page. The family-owned restaurant specializes in Burmese cuisine and has operated in Silver Spring since 2005 after moving from College Park.

Fuddruckers Closing; The Eleanor Plans January Opening
Fuddruckers’ last day of operation in Silver Spring will be Sunday, the Source has learned. Laurie Yankowski, regional marketing director for The Peterson Cos., which co-owns the Downtown Silver Spring development, confirmed the burger-centric restaurant was planning to close.

Planning Board Adopts New Silver Spring Streetscaping Standards
The Montgomery County Planning Board has approved a new set of standards for streetscaping downtown Silver Spring, the agency announced. The Silver Spring Streetscape Technical Manual has been in use since 1992. The current revisions are the result of work that began in the fall of 2017.
