County Lifts Indoor COVID–19 Mask Mandate
The county’s COVID–19 indoor mask mandate has been lifted, as of 12:01 a.m. today, Oct. 28. James Bridgers, the county’s acting health officer, officially notified the County Council yesterday that the county had achieved a “moderate” rate of COVID-19 transmission.

Surveillance Video of Suspects Released from October 16th Shooting in Downtown Silver Spring
Detectives from the county’s 3rd District Investigative Section continue to investigate the October 16th shooting that occurred in the early morning hours on the 8300 block of Fenton Street. Detectives have released surveillance video of the three suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them, according to a news release.

Picnic in the Parks Program Allowing Alcohol in Certain Parks Reinstated
The county will reinstate the Picnic in the Parks program allowing visitors to certain parks the right to drink alcoholic beverages, Montgomery Parks officials announced. The program will be back in effect as of today (Oct. 22).

Police Investigating Double Shooting; Victim in Critical Condition
Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating two shootings that occurred in the early morning hours of October 16th and October 17th in the 8300 block of Fenton Street in Silver Spring. Detectives believe the two incidents are related, according to a news release.
