Suspects Arrested in Carjacking at Summit Hills Apartments
Montgomery County Police say that an 18-year-old male is in custody following a January 19 armed carjacking at the Summit Hills Apartments in Silver Spring, and another suspect is in custody in Prince George’s County on additional charges.

County Inmate Charged With Assault, Attempted Escape
A 31-year-old Germantown man, already in custody for a string of bank robberies in Montgomery County, now has additional charges after fighting with county officers in a bathroom Tuesday evening at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.

County Council Extends Indoor Mask Mandate to Feb. 21
The County Council has once again extended the indoor mask mandate for public spaces in the county. Sitting as the Board of Health, the council enacted a Second Amended Board of Health Regulation to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 until 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 21.

County Launches Region’s First Electric Vehicle Purchasing Cooperative
The county has launched the region’s first Electric Vehicle Purchasing Cooperative, a pilot program to encourage residents and businesses to buy EVs, as well as help the county reach its goal of an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2027 and a 100 percent reduction by 2035.
