Buena Vida Concept Eliminated in Favor of Tacos, Tortas & Tequila Menu
The upscale Mexican, all-you-can-eat menu at Buena Vida has been eliminated from the Silver Spring restaurant in favor of offering the casual Tacos, Tortas & Tequila fare, said Ivan Iricanin, founder and CEO of Street Guys Hospitality. The unlimited menu concept will remain, however, in the form of weekend brunch offerings at TTT.

Quarry House Tavern to Reopen for Outdoor Service Next Week
The Quarry House Tavern will reopen for outdoor service on Thursday, Aug. 13, according to an announcement on the tavern’s website and social media accounts. Reservations are “highly encouraged” for the sidewalk seating and will be available for booking online.

Police Seek Help to Identify Suspect in Dunkin’ Burglary
The Montgomery County Police Department has released surveillance video of a suspect in a downtown Silver Spring burglary and is asking for the public’s help to identify him. The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. on July 12 at the Dunkin’ at 8401 Colesville Rd.

County Police Seek Help to Identify Armed Robbery Suspect
The Montgomery County police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a July 20 armed robbery in Silver Spring. Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section have released a cell phone video of one of two suspects in the robbery that occurred in the 1200 block of East-West Highway.

Republic Garden Temporarily Shut Down by DHHS
The Republic Garden in downtown Silver Spring has been temporarily shut down by order of the Department of Health and Human Services, officials announced. The restaurant/lounge at 8402 Georgia Ave. was given a 30-day closure notice on Sunday, July 26 for not maintaining the minimum of six feet for social distancing.

Planners Revise Schedule for Downtown Listening Sessions, Add Virtual Office Hours
The county’s Planning Department has revised the schedule of three virtual “listening sessions” for the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan following a Zoombombing incident that forced the cancellation of the initial July 21 session.

County Offering In-Home COVID-19 Testing to Eligible Residents
The county is now offering no-cost, in-home COVID-19 testing for eligible residents who live in area zip codes most affected by the coronavirus. A response team of a health worker and a human services worker will provide temperature checks, monitor vital signs and give COVID-19 saliva tests to all household members who give consent.
