Area Civic Organizations Team Up to Install Little Free Libraries
The Greater Silver Spring Civitans Club (GSSC) and Glenmont Forest Neighbors Civic Association (GFNCA) have teamed up to create and maintain two Little Free Libraries to benefit the community, according to a county press release.

WMATA: Weekend Metro Maintenance at Silver Spring, Forest Glen Stations
WMATA is reporting that due to platform edge lighting replacement this weekend (November 7-8), trains will single track between Silver Spring and Forest Glen stations. Trains will operate every 15 minutes.

Red Line Service Interrupted by Derailment at Silver Spring
Service on Metro’s Red Line was interrupted by a derailment at the Silver Spring station shortly before 11:30 a.m. A statement posted by the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission, posted on the organization’s Twitter page, reads, “Preliminary information suggests the eight-car train passed a red signal prior to the derailment.”

Second Parkway Section Closed Weekends During COVID-19 Emergency
Montgomery Parks announced that a second section of Sligo Creek Parkway would be closed to traffic on weekends, beginning today (April 10) during the COVID-19 emergency. The closure, in effect from 9 a.m. Fridays to 6 p.m. Sunday, will allow additional space for walkers, runners and bicyclists.
