College Park Senegalese restaurant Koité Grill has expanded to Silver Spring, opening in the former home of Abol Ethiopian Restaurant at 8626 Colesville Road.

Abol Restaurant Closes After Rebranding, Return to Concept
Abol Ethiopian Restaurant closed last week after an unsuccessful attempt to rebrand the location, then returning to the original concept. The location at 8626 Colesville Rd. was rebranded as Blu Nile Restaurant and Lounge with a launch shortly before the holidays.

Debab Restaurant to Open in Ethio Express Location
The former location of Ethio Express Grill at 952 Sligo Ave. will open tomorrow, Feb. 8, as Debab Restaurant under new owners. Ash Edossa and his wife Abebech “Emu” Taddese took over the business in January.

Police Investigating Georgia Avenue Shooting
County police are investigating a shooting that took place early Monday morning and damaged businesses along Georgia Avenue. The Emergency Communications Center reported receiving multiple calls about shots fired at approximately 3 a.m. in the 8200 block of Georgia.

Lemon Slice Café Planning Soft Opening Today
Beginning today, Lemon Slice Café is planning a soft opening with a limited menu at its location on the lower level of 8737 Colesville Rd. Owner Beth Yohannes has taken over the space formerly occupied by Dip n Rolls, which closed at the end of July.
