The relocation and opening of the Silver Spring Main Post Office has been postponed, according to a USPS announcement. The office was scheduled to move from its temporary location this weekend and open in its new permanent location at 940 Thayer Ave., Suite 100 on Monday, Jan. 13.

The Silver Spring Main Post Office will cease operations at 900 Wayne Ave. this weekend as it moves to its new permanent home on Thayer Avenue. The post office will open at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13 at 940 Thayer Ave., Suite 100.

Young Male Shot, Wounded Sunday Evening
A 15-year-old male was shot and wounded Sunday evening (January 5) in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive, according to a county police department press release. Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating the incident, which was reported at about 5:50 p.m.

University to Consolidate Operations in Silver Spring
A Puerto Rico-based university will consolidate and expand its local offerings in the Inventa Towers in downtown Silver Spring. Ana G. Méndez University has agreed to lease 28,500 square feet of space in the former Discovery headquarters and plans a May 2020 opening, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation.

Major Downtown Tenant Will Remain in Silver Spring
One of Silver Spring’s major downtown office tenants will remain in its Georgia Avenue location despite being purchased earlier this year. Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. has renewed and extended its long-term lease at Washington Property Company’s Silver Spring Plaza building, according to an announcement by WPC.

Mandalay Plans Move to Georgia Avenue in D.C.
Mandalay Restaurant and Café will move from its Bonifant Street location to Georgia Avenue in Washington, D.C., according to an announcement on the outlet’s Facebook page. The family-owned restaurant specializes in Burmese cuisine and has operated in Silver Spring since 2005 after moving from College Park.

D.C.-Based Yoga Provider Opens Silver Spring Studio
A Washington D.C.-based yoga provider has opened a new studio in downtown Silver Spring. Yoga Heights took over the space in Suite 320 of 1111 Spring St. formerly occupied by Sky House Yoga and opened Dec. 1, said owner and founder Jess Pierno.
