County Again Offering Grants to Assist in Food Security Issues
Montgomery County once again is offering grants, this year ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, to community organizations working with food security issues, according to a press release. Applications are available online and due by the close of business on Sept. 3.

County Police, Communities to Hold National Night Out
National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign designed to promote partnerships between police departments and local neighborhoods, will be held tomorrow, Aug. 6, around the country. The county’s police department will be participating in various community events.

Council to Introduce Bill Amending Accessory Apartment Regulations
The County Council today will introduce a bill to amend the county code regulating accessory apartments. The bill is intended to conform the County Code with changes made by a proposed Zoning Text Amendment and address issues surrounding ADUs that could not be addressed in a zoning change.

Shepherd’s Table Appoints Manuel Hidalgo as New Executive Director
Shepherd’s Table has appointed Manuel Hidalgo, an experienced executive in programs supporting socially and economically disadvantaged communities, as its new executive director, the organization announced. The core mission to combat hunger will remain, but Hidalgo also wants to look at options to ameliorate poverty.
