Shepherd’s Table Appoints Manuel Hidalgo as New Executive Director
Shepherd’s Table has appointed Manuel Hidalgo, an experienced executive in programs supporting socially and economically disadvantaged communities, as its new executive director, the organization announced. The core mission to combat hunger will remain, but Hidalgo also wants to look at options to ameliorate poverty.

Atlanta Company Buys Silver Spring’s Social & Scientific Systems
DLH Holdings Corp., an Atlanta-based contractor of healthcare services to the federal government, has purchased Silver Spring’s Social & Scientific Systems for $70 million. The company, a public health service organization, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of DLH.

Urban Butcher Reopens for Regular Hours with New Look, Menu
Urban Butcher is back this week to its regular operating hours with a new look and a new menu. The restaurant has added new starter dishes and seafood entrées while retaining many of the familiar beef offerings. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m. daily except Monday, with happy hour for 5-7:30 p.m.

County Seeking Applicants for Local Citizen Board Vacancies
Applications are now being accepted to fill five vacancies on the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board, according to an announcement from County Executive Marc Elrich. The 18-member board serves as a liaison between the community and the executive’s office. Applicants must live within the boundaries of the Silver Spring Regional Center and can apply online.
