County Animal Services, Adoption Center to Reopen Sunday
The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center will fully reopen to the public on Sunday, June 20, officials with the county’s Office of Animal Services announced. During the COVID-19 emergency, while the shelter was closed, OAS continued to operate the MCASAC caring for homeless animals, responding to emergencies and animal complaints.

County to Begin Accepting Reservations for Some School Facilities
The county will open all purpose rooms/cafeterias and gyms in county schools for weekend use only from June 20 through Aug. 15, the Office of Community Use of Public Facilities announced. CUPF will begin accepting requests for reservations through ActiveMontgomery at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 11.

Montgomery Parks Now Accepting Permit Applications for Park Buildings, Picnic Shelters
Montgomery Parks is now accepting applications for permits to reserve park activity buildings and picnic shelters, according to a press release. Residents will be able to use these buildings as of June 12, officials said.

Historic Preservation Office Opens Digital Archives of Photos, Historic Permits
The county’s Historic Preservation Office has opened up a new online archive system that allows users to search a digitized slide and photograph collection as well as digitized Historic Area Work Permits.

County Announces Memorial Day Schedule Changes
The county has released schedule changes that will be in effect on Memorial Day Monday, May 31. County and state offices, state courts and county libraries will be closed, as will the Brookside Nature Center.
