Council Approves Executive Order to Allow Limited Indoor Dining
The County Council yesterday approved by a 7–2 vote a revised executive order permitting indoor dining in area restaurants, with restrictions. Councilmembers Will Jawando (D-At Large) and Craig Rice (D-District 2) dissented, citing safety issues, the risk of continuing to spread the pandemic and public health experts’ advice against reopening restaurants.

The Takoma Park Police Department recorded 20 formal complaints against either the department or its employees in 2020, according to a press release. That number represents a 45% increase from nine complaints in 2019.

A Silver Spring woman wanted in a parental kidnapping case has been located and taken into custody, according to Montgomery County police. Ashley Spicer, age 35, and her nine-year-old daughter Israel “Kali” Burk were found in Atlanta, Ga. yesterday.

Planning Board Recommends Expanding Area Covered by Proposed “Missing Middle” Zoning Change
The county’s Planning Board is submitting comments to the County Council that includes a recommendation to expand the area covered by a proposed zoning text amendment to allow duplexes, townhouses, and small multi-family structures, also known as missing middle housing, to be built within a mile of a Metro station.
